CONNECTION:
Reading and participating in others blogs has become a fun past time of mine. Since creating my blog for this class I have enjoyed the outlet of sharing with others what is taking place in my classroom. Blogging is a great tool for teachers to share and collaborate on new and innovative ideas.

Podcast:
DEFINITION:
"The distribution of audio and video "shows" across the Internet, such as a video blog or an Internet radio show. Like blogs, they can range in subject matter from personal to business and serious to entertaining."

CONNECTION: My initial reaction was that there was no place for it in the early ed. classroom. After learning more I see it as a great tool for students to hear their voice, edit and re-record their works. Sharing books they have written on podcast motivates my students to do their best. The "practice" enables the student to reinforce what it is they are writing about.

Webcast:

DEFINITION:
"A broadcast that takes place over the web and uses both audio and visual effects. Web casts are often interactive."

CONNECTION:

For example, a web-based conferece that sends a presentation with charts and graphs to go alongside the speech or presentation. Students from different classes, different parts of the world can work together to present a common project. For example if my student was doing a presentation comparing the differences between winter in North Carolina and Mexico they could collaborate with a student that lives in Mexico and make a joint presentation.

CONNECTION: WebQuests are a wonderful way to involve students in a learning adventure. What student doesn't want an adventure. Now that I have learned how simple they are to make I will challenge myself to create various webquests to enhance my units of study.
